Hyperbaric Chamber

It smells like warm,
The same rich and earthy scent that trails an open cup of coffee,
Hot breathe, furling like smoke, shades lifting from dark water.

It passes your lips, a fleshy sieve pressing half-moons along the rim.
Drops hang in a plump curve in the silhouette, little animals strung on a leash.

It smells like warm.

Plush towel around the breastbone,
Held to the nose like a terry-cloth shroud,
Covering the eyes while little, gold stars
Erupt behind your eyelids.
